Google Chrome recently announced that starting in September, they are going to block flash from their browser. This is follow suite (albeit late) after Apple first announced it will no longer support flash years ago, and Android followed meaning the majority of your mobile browsers would not be able to view any website in flash at all. Adobe announced this past December that they will finally start killing off the Flash brand entirely, which means Flash is Officially Dead. Companies are scrambling to get web design quotes to convert their websites so they don’t lose their rankings. Continue reading
I’m preparing for a small presentation this afternoon with some local farmers about using Social Media to improve their marketing strategy, and I wanted to share some of these tidbits with our readers so you can make the most out of your social management with advice from legit social marketing companies.
Quite simply, Social Media is necessary for all businesses. Continue reading
At Misfit, we specialize in Wordpress development and customization. We love Wordpress, we relish and bathe in it. Because we also budget to provide small businesses with affordable web solutions, we also look for ways to assist small businesses in achieving their goals. Occasionally it’s difficult to explain to clients what their options are in terms of a website that is built the best possible way for their budget and brand. Continue reading
Whew, thanks for pausing a moment.
Before you take that big step by hiring a new employee and all the paperwork and cost that comes with it, we want to offer some alternatives ideas that are just as important and may actually save you money (and who doesn’t want to save money?).
Don’t get us wrong, there’s nothing inherently wrong with hiring an in-house social media person. It may even feel more comfortable having a dedicated person readily available to monitor your social media on a whim. We get it. However, not every company needs to invest that much money into their social strategy. If your business is in the niche of marketing, it makes more sense to have an in-house marketer. If you’re in a labor industry, such as construction, it absolutely does not make sense to have someone dedicated solely to your social media strategy in-house.
So what are your options? Continue reading
Let’s assume that your business is on social media. (With 65% of U.S. adults using some form of social, you are crazy if it isn’t!) Let’s also assume you have a Facebook page, and maybe a Twitter or a LinkedIn account for your company, depending on your industry.
But are you doing enough to make a difference for your business?
Back in 2010, it might have been enough just to have your business on Facebook. Now, you can’t even show your posts to everyone who liked your page! Yes, the people who voluntarily opted in to receive your updates see them maybe 1-2 times out of 10. What this means, is that you could be wasting your efforts, sending your messages into a void.
So what should you do about it? How do you step up your social media game? Continue reading
Persistent spammers suck worse and force us to stay on our toes when it comes to keeping our clients protected and their analytics accurate with data to help guide their marketing initiatives. However, the spammers are not going anywhere, and neither is our fight to keep them at bay while providing the best secure hosting as well as passionate search engine optimization.
During the last several weeks I have battled with varying types of spam, mostly from Russia, and have been amused by the lengths some of these spammers will go in order to garner traffic. I have been successful in our quest, and wanted to share the information I have learned so that others can successfully remove spammers and ensure the data they are collecting is not skewed by spam traffic. Misfit Interactive is happy to announce that we have developed a vendor referral program that benefits both future and past clients. We love developing relationships with our clients and supporting their growth and business, and our new referral program allows us to do just that.
What sort of discounts are we offering? It’s pretty simple!
For our existing clients:
- For referring new business to us, you can get a a custom discount based on what services you currently use with us. Whether it is web hosting, maintenance work, social media management, or PPC Marketing, we can create a discount package covering any of your services for each referral.
For referred and/or new business:
- If you were referred to us by one of our existing clients, you are entitled to a 10% discount on any of our services that we provide. In return you will also ensure the vendor that referred you also gets their own discount mentioned above.
- If we refer you to one of our existing clients in this list, they are also willing to provide you with a 10% discount on all of their services. Just tell them that Misfit referred you and you want to participate in the vendor referral program.
It is no secret that Google plans to adjust their algorithm so that mobile-friendly sites will now rank better than those that are not, especially on, well…….mobile devices. This move makes perfect sense as more and more people are using their tablets and phones to perform searches, contact businesses and even shop online. Speaking from personal experience, I use my phone to do quick research, find local companies or look up information more frequently than my home computer. I have it with me at all times, so it is easier to access. Continue reading
Misfit Interactive was born from the idea of helping small businesses compete with the big dogs on the web. It is on the web that everyone can be equal, no matter their capital, so long as they have great search engine optimization, fresh content, and a kickin’ website.
However, Misfit likes to push the borders of how companies are run and give back to the community. So we have started an initiative that we’ve wanted to incorporate from the beginning. Every new redesign project we bring in, we’ll donate 5% to a charity of that projects choice (or if they have no preference, we’ll donate to one of our chosing).
That’s right, every new web redesign project we bring in, we’ll be giving back to the community! We will poll our followers on Facebook, Google+, and Twitter for charity ideas and even post proof of our payments being sent out to these charities.
The other day I was talking to a potential client about all the services and solutions we could provide to his company that had been hit hard by negative SEO this summer. The discussion took a different turn and became very personal at one point, when the client mentioned he had done his research on ME personally to see if he would be interested in doing business with Misfit Interactive.
Immediately my mind began to race: “Oh no, have I posted anything inappropriate recently?” “Did I use bad language?” “Did I complain about my work??”
Fortunately for me, I try to keep my personal social networks proper and classy enough that I don’t really have to worry about offending anyone. Let’s face it, no one wants to deal with the opinions of the internet, anyway. Continue reading
